Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud reviewed the latest regional developments during a meeting with Commander of the U.S. Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper in Jeddah on Monday, reported Xinhua.
The two sides also reviewed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The meeting came amid the escalating cross-border confrontation between Yemen's Houthis group and Saudi Arabia.
The Houthi group said Monday that it had launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at a major military air base in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
On Thursday, the group captured the strategic port of Mocha, pushed south into the Bab al-Mandab Strait area on Friday, and seized Mayun Island at the heart of the strait, tightening their grip on the vital shipping chokepoint linking the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
