Saudi Arabia announces over $15b in tech investments

Saudi Arabia's annual international technology conference, LEAP, kicked off in the capital Riyadh on Monday, with technology launches, investments and partnerships worth more than 15 billion U.S. dollars announced in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies, the Saudi Press Agency reported, said Xinhua.

Running through Sept. 3, this year's event brings together leading technology and AI figures, investors and innovators from around the world, and covers areas including AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity and healthcare, said the report.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha said in his opening remarks that Saudi Arabia is steadily advancing toward leading the AI era in partnership with major global companies, innovators and investors.
