Teen arrested after US Seattle food festival shooting kills 3

A 15-year-old suspect was arrested after three people were killed and four others injured in a shooting at the annual Bite of Seattle food festival near Seattle's Space Needle, in the U.S. state of Washington, authorities said Monday, reported Xinhua.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said police arrested the suspect, who was booked into juvenile detention for investigation of first-degree assault and firearms violations. The suspect was scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday afternoon. Police are continuing to search for a second suspect.

According to the Seattle Police Department, investigators believe the two suspects exchanged gunfire outside the Seattle Center Armory shortly after 6 p.m. local time Sunday at the three-day food festival, which was drawing large crowds. Police said there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Two victims died at the scene, while a third later died at the hospital. Four other people were injured, including a 2-year-old boy, authorities said.

The motive remains under investigation.
