The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday that it had received a report of a tanker struck by an unknown projectile approximately six nautical miles east of Oman, reported Xinhua.

According to a UKMTO warning notice, the tanker was struck on its port bow by an unknown projectile. The vessel's crew were reported safe, and no environmental impact has been reported.

The tanker is continuing to its next scheduled port of call, the notice said.

Security conditions in and around the Strait of Hormuz have remained tense in recent weeks amid heightened regional tensions. The UKMTO has in recent days issued multiple warnings regarding security incidents affecting commercial vessels in nearby waters.
