At least 11 people were killed and 15 others injured as torrential rains and devastating flash floods swept through multiple provinces in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported on Monday, said Xinhua.

The deadly weather struck parts of Panjshir, Paktia, Baghlan, and Takhar provinces, according to NDMA spokesperson Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad.

The floods caused extensive destruction, washing away dozens of homes and shops while severely damaging hundreds of acres of farmland and rural roads, Hammad added.

Afghanistan has been battered by severe rainfall and deadly flash floods in recent weeks, resulting in heavy loss of life and massive economic damage. Official figures indicate that more than 275 people have died and over 350 others have been injured in weather-related disasters during this period.
