5 including state DCM killed in plane crash in India

Five people including Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar were killed in a plane crash on Wednesday, reported ANI.

Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh said the aircraft went down around 8:40 am on its way to Baramati from Mumbai, killing all five people on board.

Speaking to reporters, Pune Rural SP said, "The aircraft carrying 5 people crashed just before landing at around 8:40 am today. Five people have died in this incident, and their bodies have been brought to the hospital here. We will provide an update after the bodies are identified. An expert team is present at the crash site."

Meanwhile, A special team of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will investigate the aircraft crash in Baramati, which took away the lives of five individuals.

During the course of the investigation, the probe team will retrieve the flight recorder, the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), and the Digital Engine Electronic System (DEES).

Ajit Pawar, 66, was the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra non-consecutively. He served in the position for six terms within various governments.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis on Wednesday announced a state holiday and three days of mourning following the demise of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash this morning.
