Blast kills 7, injures 13 in Afghan capital

At least 20 people, including women and children, were transported to EMERGENCY's Surgical Center in the Afghan capital of Kabul following an explosion in the downtown area on Monday afternoon, with seven declared dead on arrival, the humanitarian organization said, reported Xinhua.

"To date, we have admitted twenty patients to our hospital," said Dejan Panic, EMERGENCY's Country Director in Afghanistan. "Among the injured are four women and one child. The wounded, several of whom are undergoing evaluation for surgical intervention, have sustained lacerations and contusions. Regrettably, seven individuals were deceased upon arrival."

Earlier, Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, confirmed to Xinhua that the blast at a restaurant in Kabul Monday afternoon had resulted in casualties, though the exact number of fatalities and injuries remains undetermined. He added that investigations into the incident are underway.
