Saudi Arabia opens Red Sea Museum in restored Jeddah heritage site

Saudi Arabia's Museums Commission inaugurated the Red Sea Museum in Jeddah, reported Xinhua, quoting the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday.

The museum features more than 1,000 archaeological and artistic pieces displayed across 23 exhibition halls organized into seven main themes, the SPA said. The collection includes navigational instruments, Chinese ceramics, manuscripts, and rare photographs, along with contemporary works by artists from Saudi Arabia, and abroad.

The museum is housed in the historic Bab Al-Bunt building in Jeddah's Historic District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building was restored under the Quality of Life Program of Saudi Vision 2030, using sustainability standards for heritage structures.

Officials say the project aims to strengthen cultural infrastructure, support sustainable urban development, preserve the architectural character of Bab Al-Bunt, and revive its historic role as a gateway to the region.
