9 including 2 cops killed in Pakistan

Two policemen were killed and four others injured after miscreants targeted a police vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday, reported Xinhua, quoting official sources.

The incident happened in Dera Ismail Khan district when the vehicle was targeted during a routine patrol, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The injured policemen were shifted to a nearby hospital, where at least two of them are in critical condition, the sources added.

No group has claimed the attack yet.

Meanwhile, seven alleged terrorists were killed in three separate operations in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, the military said on Thursday.

The security forces conducted intelligence-based operations from Nov. 18 to 19 in Mohmand, Lakki Marwat and Tank districts of KP, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said in a statement.

During the operation in Mohmand, four terrorists were killed after an intense exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists, said the ISPR statement.

In another operation, two terrorists were neutralized in the Lakki Marwat district, the ISPR said.

In the third encounter that took place in Tank district of the province, one terrorist was killed, the ISPR said.

Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate the presence of other terrorists from the area.

The military said the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
