A large number of passengers were seen stranded at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Friday, as the technical glitch that struck the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system earlier in the day continued to adversely affect both arrivals and departures, reported Xinhua.

As per the flight tracking online platform "Flightradar24," departures were delayed by 52 minutes, while arrivals were postponed by 68 minutes.

According to the Airports Authority of India, flight operations were facing delays at the Delhi airport due to a technical snag in the Automatic Message Switching System that supports ATC data. "Technical teams are working to restore the system at the earliest," it added.

Latest updates said that the prolonged technical glitch had affected nearly 400 flights so far. Flight operations were being carried out manually, even as passengers were advised to check for their respective flights' updates before heading to the airport.

One of the busiest airports, the IGIA handles nearly 1,500 flight movements per day.
