Trooper killed in Indian-administrated Kashmir gunfight

An army trooper was killed in an ongoing gunfight with militants in Indian-administrated Kashmir, officials said Saturday, reported Xinhua.
The gunfight broke out on Friday night inside the Dudu Basantgarh area of Udhampur district, about 276 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
According to officials, the trooper was wounded during the initial gunfight and succumbed to his wounds early Saturday.
Police said the gunfight broke out after joint contingents of police, army and paramilitary launched a search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of militants.
