Five Hezbollah members were killed and five others injured on Monday in a series of Israeli airstrikes on eastern Lebanon, official and security sources said, reported Xinhua.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out seven strikes on the outskirts of Hermel and one on the outskirts of Labweh. The Ministry of Public Health's Emergency Operations Center confirmed the casualties.

A Lebanese army intelligence source told Xinhua the raids targeted Hezbollah positions, some of which had been hit in previous strikes.

In a statement, the Israeli army said it had identified Hezbollah members at the targeted camps, which it described as sites used for training and weapons storage. It said the locations posed a threat to Israel and vowed to continue such operations.

A ceasefire brokered by the United States and France between Hezbollah and Israel has been in place since Nov. 27, 2024. However, Israel has occasionally launched strikes in Lebanon, citing security threats, while keeping forces at five positions along the Lebanese border after missing the Feb. 18 deadline for a full withdrawal.
