Police in New Delhi on Monday detained lawmakers from opposition parties and stopped them from protesting alleged vote theft in last year's general elections and the ongoing special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the eastern state of Bihar, officials said, reported Xinhua.

A police contingent was deployed outside Parliament Street, and several barricades were placed to stop the agitating lawmakers from marching toward the Election Commission of India.

According to police, no permission had been requested for the march organized by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, a grouping led by the Congress party.
