Smoke from wildfires burning in northern Ontario and the Prairies continued to create hazy conditions in Toronto and Ottawa, the major cities in Canada, reported Xinhua, quoting local media on Wednesday.

Environment Canada meteorologist Barbara Lapido said that many people across southern Ontario might see some hazy skies and red-hued sunrises and sunsets for the next couple of days, according to CTV News.

FireSmoke Canada, a portal monitoring wildfire and its smoke patterns, also forecast that plumes from the ongoing fires would billow over the Greater Toronto Area through Thursday.

Environment Canada's forecast warned of hazy skies through Wednesday in the capital city of Ottawa.

"Hazy skies in place as smoke from wildfires drift over the area," the weather agency said. "This may obscure visibility slightly and reduce the clarity of the sky."

Smoke from wildfires will continue to linger over Ottawa into Thursday afternoon, reported CTV News.
