Hyundai is recalling more than 226,000 vehicles in the United States over concerns of a rearview camera failing, reported Xinhua.

Six different vehicles from the Santa Fe and Elantra vehicles lines from the 2021 and 2022 model years are covered, according to a recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday.

"An inoperative rearview camera will reduce rearward visibility while driving in reverse, increasing the risk of injury to bystanders," said the recall notice.

Hyundai said in documents posted by safety regulators that solder joints on a printed circuit board can develop cracks that can worsen over time and cause the cameras to fail.

Dealers will replace the cameras at no cost to owners, who will be notified by letters starting Jan. 19.
