The Bangladeshi-flagged cargo ship which was hijacked Tuesday has anchored 20 miles off the Somalian port of Garacad, an official said here Thursday, reported Xinhua.

Md Shakawat Hossain, general secretary of Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association, told reporters here, "We've come to know from a global shipping source that the ship as of 1:00 p.m. local time anchored at a place close to the Somalian port."

The vessel is owned by SR Shipping Limited, a sister concern of Bangladeshi KSRM group.

Suspected Somali pirates Tuesday hijacked the cargo ship with 23 crew members on board in the Indian Ocean.

It was sailing from Maputo in Mozambique to Al Hamriyah in the United Arab Emirates with 58,000 tonnes of coal.
