1 dead, 6 wounded in shooting in U.S. Oakland

One person died and six others were wounded in a shooting in Oakland, the U.S. state of California, on Saturday evening, reported Xinhua, quoting local media on Sunday.

One 22-year-old San Francisco man died at the hospital, the six others were in stable condition, according to the police.

Oakland police received reports of shots fired on Lakeshore Avenue at 6:22 p.m. Saturday, as about 1,000 people were celebrating around the lake, police said.

Police said officers saw two men with guns running from the scene "immediately after the shooting." Both men were arrested and under investigation.
