Death toll caused by low oxygen supply after leakage in the tank rose to 29 in India's Nashik city, 167 km from Mumbai, the country's financial center, reported Xinhua, quoting local officials.

The tragedy at the civic-run hospital that struck on Wednesday had previously reported 22 casualties out of the 150 patients admitted at the hospital.

The Maharashtra government has set up a seven-member panel to probe into the tragic incident and has also provided financial assistance of 6,659 U.S. dollars to the families of each victim.

India has been facing shortage of oxygen supply with the rising number of cases following which priority was given to usage of oxygen for healthcare over industrial usage.
