Asia-Pacific countries record more COVID-19 cases

Asia-Pacific countries kept reporting more confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday as India reported over 70,000 infections for three consecutive days, reported Xinhua.
India's COVID-19 tally was recorded at 3,463,972 as deaths reached 62,550, showed the latest data released by the health ministry.
As many as 76,472 new COVID-19 cases and 1,021 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Still there are 752,424 active cases in the country, while 2,648,998 have been successfully cured and discharged from various hospitals, added the ministry data.
The number of confirmed cases in the Philippines surged to 213,131 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,637 new daily cases.
The DOH said that the number of recoveries rose to 135,101 after it reported 655 more patients have survived the disease, and the death toll also rose to 3,419 after 94 more patients have succumbed to the viral disease.
The Philippine government has recalibrated and refreshed its strategy to cut the COVID-19 transmission amid the spike of cases. This week the DOH started using a new slogan, 'When in doubt, isolate,' in its coronavirus response.
In Indonesia, the positive cases rose by 3,308 within one day to 169,195, with the death toll adding by 92 to 7,261, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
According to the ministry, 1,902 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 122,802.
Bangladesh reported 2,131 new COVID-19 cases and 32 new deaths on Saturday, making the total tally at 308,925 and total deaths at 4,206 respectively, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
According to the figure reported by the DGHS under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 11,689 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.
The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 198,863 including 2,027 new recoveries on Saturday, said the DGHS.
South Korea reported 323 more cases of the COVID-19 as of midnight Saturday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 19,400.
The number of confirmed cases for the past 16 days reached 4,630 owing to infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province.
The infections were traceable to church services of Sarang Jeil Church in Seoul and the massive rally held in central Seoul on Aug. 15 by conservative politicians, civic groups and church members.
Of the new cases, 124 were Seoul residents and 100 were people residing in Gyeonggi province.
Five more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 321. The total fatality rate stood at 1.65 percent.
