Colder week forecast as mercury drops to minus 28.3 °C in Lapland

Temperature fell down in most parts of Finland during the weekend and the country is likely to experience colder weather from Monday, Finnish weather forecasting company Foreca said late Sunday night.

Country´s lowest temperature minus 28.3 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tulppio in Savukoski, a municipality under Lapland region on Sunday and similar or colder temperature will continue Monday.

Lapland, North Ostrobothnia, Kainuu and some other regions saw snowfall during the weekend and the snowfall will continue during the next week.

In Lapland, the temperature will be in between 10 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius and some places may experience minus 25 degrees Celsius to minus 30 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu may drop to minus 5 degrees Celsius to minus 15 degrees Celsius and even some places to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

According to the Foreca bulletin, the temperature will also fall with snow, sleet and rain in the southern and central parts of the country.

The southern part of the country will see temperature in between 3 degrees Celsius to minus 3 degree Celsius during the daytime while in the central part it will experience 0 degree to minus 8 degrees Celsius.

At night the temperature may fall to minus 10 degrees Celsius in the south and minus 15 degrees Celsius in central Finland.
