After winning three consecutive matches with big margins, the Lions were defeated by the host Denmark by 2-3 in the Ice Hockey World Championship match held on late Wednesday night.

The Danes took the lead of the match in the second period, after the first period had ended in a goalless draw.

Although the Finns equalised the score in the same period, Denmark took the lead again by 2-1.

In the third period, the Finns were able to equalise the match four minutes ahead of the end. But Nichlas Hardt’s third goal just two minutes before of the end sealed the victory for Denmark.

The last time Denmark defeated Finland was at the 2010 Ice Hockey World Championship. Finland had won seven of the eight IIHF World Championship matches held in the past with Denmark.
