Two goals from Aston Villa striker Nicolas Jackson ended Manchester City's 100 percent record at the start of the Premier League season as Aston Villa claimed a 2-1 win at Villa Park on Saturday, reported Xinhua.

"It's my work, so I'm very happy to do it. Hopefully, I'll be injury-free and I can keep on doing it," Jackson said after the game, before praising Aston Villa coach Unai Emery.

"I know the coach. He's an incredible manager, and we have an incredible dressing room. Hopefully, I'll score many goals for them," he added.

Jackson opened the scoring in the sixth minute after capitalizing on a defensive error by Marc Guehi. Erling Haaland equalized for Manchester City in the 52nd minute with a powerful header, but Jackson restored Villa's lead on the hour.

Aston Villa substitute Ibrahima Mbaye delivered a cross for Jackson, whose first-time shot beat Gianluigi Donnarumma to secure the win.

Arsenal took full advantage of Manchester City's defeat with a 2-0 home win over Everton, with both goals coming from central defenders.

Ezri Konsa opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing from close range following a spell of Arsenal pressure.

Gabriel Magalhaes doubled Arsenal's lead in the 68th minute with a header from Ben White's cross from the right, scoring his first goal of the season.

After eight rounds of play, Manchester City and Arsenal lead the standings with 21 points each, both having seven wins and one loss.

Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders had a difficult afternoon at home to Tottenham when he conceded an own goal in the 77th minute, punching the ball into his own net from a corner to put Tottenham ahead.

Tottenham had suffered an injury setback earlier in the second half when influential midfielder James Maddison was forced off with an injury.

With Chelsea chasing the game, Cole Palmer was sent off following a challenge on former Chelsea player Conor Gallagher. Mathys Tel then sealed Tottenham's second league win of the season with an excellent individual goal.

Oscar Bobb scored the only goal of the game in the 80th minute to give Fulham a 1-0 win away to Coventry City. The victory gave Alvaro Arbeloa's side consecutive league wins and lifted Fulham out of the bottom three, while Coventry has suffered successive defeats.

Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 on Friday night, with Neco Williams putting Forest ahead in the 13th minute before Julio Enciso equalized four minutes before halftime.

Forest missed several chances to win the game, extending its run of disappointing results.
