HJK Helsinki (Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi) have signed Senegalese winger Pape Ibrahima Ndir, 19, on loan from Senegalese club Olympique Thiessois until the end of this season, said HJK in a press release on Tuesday.

The agreement also includes an option to buy.

The left-footed Ndir, who plays on the right wing, is making his first move to European football.

He expressed his excitement after getting the opportunity to start his career in Finland.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to join HJK. This is the biggest club in the country, and I want to do my best to win trophies here,” he said.

Ndir has played exclusively in his country Senegal so far but his performances attracted the football clubs in the Nordic countries.

HJK sporting director Petri Vuorinen termed him as a highly promising attacking player.

“I believe he will fit into the team very well. Ndir is very good with the ball and excellent at protecting possession. His potential is really high, and if he can adapt quickly to the European style of play, he could be a very interesting addition for us,” Vuorinen said.

Ndir trained with HJK on Saturday and will be available for selection for Sunday’s match against IF Gnistan.
