Heavy rain and thunderstorms interrupted the preparations of Argentina and Spain for Sunday's FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey, reported Xinhua.

Spain was forced to cancel Saturday's planned training session at the Melanie Lane Training Ground in New Jersey in accordance with United Sates safety protocols, the Spanish federation (RFEF) said in a statement.

Argentina started its final training session 45 minutes later than scheduled in Morristown, New Jersey.

The National Weather Service issued warnings of severe thunderstorms and flash flooding across the New York and New Jersey metropolitan areas on Saturday.

The agency forecast sunny conditions for Sunday with a maximum temperature of 84 degrees Fahrenheit (around 29 degrees Celsius).
