Finland score 5th consecutive victory beating Great Britain 4-0

The Lions scored fifth consecutive victory in the Ice Hockey World Championship 2026 beating Great Britain by 4 goals to nil at Swiss Life Arena in Zurich, Switzerland late Friday night.

Although Finland completely dominated over the newly promoted Great Britain during the whole match, the magnificent performance by English goaltender Mat Robson forced them to be satisfied with the 4-0 win.

Ville Heinola scored the first goal for the country at first minute and widened the gap at the middle of second period followed by Mikko Lehtonen and Henri Jokiharju to ensure the 4-0 victory.

Great Britain, however, have no record to score goal against Finland in the 21st century and in the last three matches Finland beat them by 8-0, 6-0 and 5-0 in 2024, 2022 and 2019 respectively.

The last time the British scored goal against Finland in the world championship in 1962 held in Colorado but Finland also won the match by 7-5.

In the previous four matches in this year championship, Finland beat Germany by 3-1, Hungary by 4-1, USA by 6-2 and Latvia by 7-1.

Finland will play against Austria in their sixth group match on Sunday.
