Robert Lewandowski announced on Saturday that he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the current season, reported Xinhua.
The 37-year-old drew the curtain on four seasons with FC Barcelona with a message on social media. "After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on."
"I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. 4 seasons, 3 championships," he explained, adding that he would "never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days."
"Thank you to everyone I met along the way during these beautiful four years," added the striker, who gave a "special thank you to President Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career."
"Barca is back where it belongs," he concluded.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 and has so far made 191 appearances for the club, scoring 119 goals, while winning three La Liga titles, the 2025 Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.
This season has seen his role in the team reduced with age beginning to catch up with him, prompting speculation whether the club would extend his contract, which is due to expire at the end of June.
He has still managed to score 13 goals so far in La Liga this campaign.
Lewandowski's departure will help Barcelona lower the club's wage bill and make it easier to make new signings over the summer under La Liga's financial fair play rules.
