FIFA announced Thursday that over 500 million 2026 World Cup ticket requests have been submitted since the random selection draw phase began on December 11, 2025, reported Xinhua.

Apart from co-hosts the United States, Mexico and Canada, most applications came from fans residing in Germany, England, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Colombia, and the most coveted match in this sales phase was Colombia vs Portugal on June 27 in Miami, FIFA announced.

Other highly sought-after tickets include those for matches between Mexico and South Korea, Mexico and South Africa, and the final.

"Half a billion ticket requests in just over a month is more than demand - it's a global statement," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Following a verifying process, tickets will be allocated randomly and fans will be notified of the outcome of their applications by email no earlier than February 5. Successful applications will be charged automatically.

Fans who are unsuccessful in this phase will have another opportunity to purchase tickets closer to the tournament, when the last-minute sales phase opens.

The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, marking the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 teams.
