Leon Draisaitl has become the latest player and the first German to reach 1,000 scorer points in the North American National Hockey League (NHL), reported dpa.
Draisaitl, 30, reached the mark with the first of four assists in the Edmonton Oilers' 6-4 victory at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.
He is the 103rd player in NHL history to reach the mark, with his 1,003 points in 824 matches coming from 416 goals and 587 assists.
"As someone who grew up in Germany it always felt like a very long path. It was certainly only a dream," Draisaitl said.
"A lot of hard work. A lot of people who helped along the way," he added. "These accomplishments, they're always directed at the single player, but there are so many people that play such a big part in that."
"I am super grateful, super thankful, and proud."
Team-mate Connor McDavid, who has also gone beyond 1,000 points, said in praise of Draisaitl: "Just a special player. I can't say enough good things.
"He does it each and every year at both sides of the rink. A really special accomplishment. As a person, he works his tail off. I see it firsthand every day. It's not surprising that he reached this accomplishment so quickly. So many great years are ahead of him."
Draisaitl joined the Oilers in 2014 and has become one of the best players in the NHL.
He was leading NHL points scorer in 2020 and top goal scorer in 2025. In 2020, he won the Hart Memorial Trophy as Most Valuable Player in the regular season, and the Ted Lindsay Award for most outstanding player in the regular season.
