German biathlete Johannes Kühn has tested positive for the coronavirus and will miss this week's home World Cup in Ruhpolding, reported dpa.

The German Ski Federation (DSV) said on Wednesday that Kühn is in isolation while all other team-members have tested negative.

The world governing body IBU said that local authorities are also involved with a possible quarantine decision yet to be made.

Kühn claimed his first victory in December and in 10th place is the best German man in the World Cup standings.

The Ruhpolding events held behind closed doors start later Wednesday and run until Sunday.

Kühn's positive test comes after women's team member Franziska Preuß also contracted the Sars-CoV-2 virus in December.

Preuß is expected back next week in Anterselva, Italy, where the last World Cup races ahead of next month's Beijing Winter Olympics are scheduled.
