Lionel Messi said he dreams of winning the Champions League once more after joining Paris St-Germain, reported British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

"I think we have the team to do it here," said the BBC report, quoting Messi as saying.

The 34-year old Argentina captain won Champions League titles four times with Barcelona and the last trophy came in 2015.

PSG, however, are yet to win the Champions League, although they became runners-up after losing to Bayern Munich in the final last year.

"My goal and my dream is to win the Champions League once more," Messi said as he was unveiled as a PSG player after signing a two-year deal with Paris St-Germain.

Messi left Barcelona - who he joined aged 13 - as they were unable to afford a new deal under La Liga's financial fair play rules.

Considered one of the greatest players of all time, he scored a record 672 goals in 778 games for the Catalan giants.

Earlier on Tuesday, Lionel Messi arrived at Le Bourget airport in the northeastern suburbs of Paris to finalize his signing with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, following his tearful farewell to Barcelona on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

Hundreds of fans have been waiting at the airport since Monday as the 34-year-old Argentine has been linked with the capital-based club right after his shock departure from Barcelona was announced.

Messi, wearing a T-shirt which wrote "ici c'est Paris (this is Paris)", waved to the fans when walking out of the airport.

PSG has released a video later in the afternoon on its official website which heavily implied that the signing is completed.

Messi is the latest big-name arrival at PSG on a free transfer this summer after coach Mauricio Pochettino's side snapped up Spanish defender Sergio Ramos after he left Real Madrid. Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum also joined after running down his contract with Liverpool.
