The European Championship match between Denmark and Finland was suspended after 42 minutes by UEFA after Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch three minutes before halftime, reported Xinhua.

Eriksen passed out in the 42nd minute of the game, falling directly to the ground, as he ran over to receive a throw-in and the Finnish players immediately signaled that he needed help as referee Anthony Taylor called medical staff onto the pitch.

The Danish players - some of whom looked visibly shocked and affected by what was happening - formed an outward facing circle around Eriksen as a member of the team's medical staff appeared to perform compression treatment on the 29-year-old's chest.

Danish players, Simon Kjaer and Kasper Schmeichel, comforted a young woman, presumably Eriksen's partner, Sabrina Kvist Jensen, who ran onto the pitch and 12 minutes after collapsing Eriksen was taken off the pitch with his team-mates holding sheets around the stretcher on which he was carried.

UEFA almost immediately communicated that the match had been suspended as a result of the incident.
