Finland-Denmark match resumes as player “awake” after collapse

The first ever match for Finland in the 2020 UEFA European Championship became more historic with sadness as Finland-Denmark match has been suspended after Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen was collapsed during the match.

The Group B match was being held at Parken Stadium, Copenhagen at Finnish time 7:00 pm.

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen was given CPR by medics after suffering suspected sudden cardiac arrest just before the end of first half.

The midfielder flipped over suddenly, and his teammates formed a ring around him as medics pumped his chest.

According to the media release from the Euro 2020 official website, the game was suspended.

He was transferred to the hospital and was stabilized, reported Xinhua, quoting twitter account of Euro 2020 said on Saturday.

"Following the medical emergency involving Denmark's player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET," said the twitter account.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilized."

After getting the good news from hospital, players of both the teams agreed to continue the match resulting resumption of the match after about one and a half hour.
