The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday said that gathering of thousands of people from different countries at the European Football championship venues will increase the risk of coronavirus infections.

The THL also suggested to enjoy the games at home as the best option, said an official press release.

The European Football Championship is beginning this week and Finland will play its first match against Denmark on 12 June in Copenhagen. Finland will meet Russia on 16 June and Belgium on 21 June in St. Petersburg.

The coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing and at the moment many countries suffer from a large number of infections, said the THL, warning that gathering of thousands of people from different countries increases the risk of coronavirus infections.

But if anyone travels to the Championship venues, the rules are the same as for other travels.

The THL urged the travelers to check the current entry rules both in Finland and the destination countries as the instructions can change quickly.
