The first day action of FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Feldberg, Germany had to be canceled on Saturday due to challenging weather conditions, reported Xinhua.

In a statement, the FIS said that "despite a very early wake-up call for all volunteers, course maintenance staff and everybody trying to make this race possible, the given circumstances did not allow for a safe race to happen, thus leading to the Jury's decision to cancel the competition."

"Of course, it is really too bad that we cannot have a safe race today here in Feldberg. But the most important task is to keep the athletes safe and healthy, especially with the upcoming World Championships in less than two weeks in Idre Fjall," commented Klaus Waldner, the FIS Cross Race director.

The organizing committee expects that Sunday's race can go as scheduled.

"Now it is full focus on tomorrow's race. Fingers crossed that weather conditions will give us a good and fair chance to compete tomorrow," said Waldner.
