Spain's professional football clubs will return to training during the week after almost two months without football due to the coronavirus crisis, the Spanish football league (LFP) confirmed in a communique on Monday.

The LFP explains that the decision was taken after receiving the approval of the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Services and that the players from Spain's 20 Liga Santander (first division) and Liga Smart Bank (second division) clubs would begin training individually after being tested negative for Covid-19.

Although LaLiga has not yet set a date for the return of the competitio, which will be behind closed doors, they explained training will last "approximately a month" with the players "following the "process of scaling down lockdown measures established by the government".

"This crisis has had a profound impact on all of us and the return of football is a sign that society is progressing to a new normality," commented LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, who added that "the most important thing is the health of everyone".
