Luca Toni hails Lewandowski as one of the best

Former FC Bayern attacker Luca Toni is impressed with Polish star Robert Lewandowski, who continued his perfect start of the season.

"He lives in the box. I'm sure he can lead the team to the trophies," the Italian was quoted as saying by Omnisport.

In the first five weeks of Bundesliga, 'Lewy' scored nine, adding two goals in Champions League and DFB Pokal. The Pole extended a contract at Bayern to 2023 a few weeks ago.

"He is one of the best. I appreciate him, because he scores a lot. To be honest, it's hard to criticise him now. He is a great player," said Toni.

After five weeks the titleholders takes second place, as they have two point less than RB Leipzig.

"I hope a few teams will be able to be worthy opponents for Bayern this season. In that case the league would be more interesting. The Bundesliga has to be a challenging competition," added Toni.
