Vantaa murder victim was landlord of suspected killer

The elderly man, who was killed inside a private apartment in Vantaa last week, was the owner of the house where the suspected killer has been living on rent, said police in a press release on Monday.

Meanwhile, police on Monday placed the suspect before the Itä-Uusimaa District Court seeking remand into custody.

The incident took place at Kaivoksela area in Vantaa on May 14 when the suspect, a youth of 20 years old allegedly killed a 75-year-old man.

Police interrogated the suspect on Friday and during the weekend and conducted technical investigation into the murder.

The suspect during the interrogation provided the police with details information about the incident, which supported the suspicion murder against him.

Police, however, did not disclose the detail information about the murder at the preliminary stage of the investigation.

They also said that no firearm or sharp weapon was used in the suspected murder.
