The City of Espoo will apply for authorisation by the Ministry of the Interior to increase parking fines imposed in zone 1 from 60 euros to 80 euros.
The city will also increase the parking fees and expand the paid parking areas, said the city in a press release on Tuesday.
The price increase, expansion of paid parking and the application for increasing parking fines were approved by the Espoo City Council on Monday as part of the 2026 budget and financial plan.
The pricing of on-street parking spaces in Espoo will change as of 1 January 2026 and parking will cost €3.5 per hour in zone 1 and €2.5 per hour in zone 2.
The change does not require any action from those parking in Espoo. From the beginning of 2026, the payment service operators will charge parking fees in accordance with the new price list.
On-street parking spaces subject to a fee and the zones will also be expanded regionally during 2026.
Parking spaces that are in key locations and close to good public transport connections will be subjected to a parking fee.
Changes may also be made to the times applied for parking fees and the parking discount granted for fully electric cars.
The changes will be further specified as the planning of the expansion progresses, and the related parking principles will be presented to the City Board for approval during the spring.
