Elderly person killed in accident at parking lot in Kankaanpää

An elderly person was killed in an accident at a parking place in front of a store in Kankaanpää, a municipality under Satakunta region on Friday morning, police said.

The incident took place at about 10:20 a.m. when the driver of a combination vehicle was unloading goods in front of the store with forklift.

At certain stage the forklift hit the elderly person who was walking on the parking place.

Responding to an alarm rescue service people and police including helicopter ambulance rushed to the parking place but the person died on the spot.

Police, however, did not disclose the detail identity of the victim.

The Southwest Finland Police are investigating into the case as endangering traffic safety and murder.
