Robbery at Kuopio grocery shop, suspect at large

Bandit equipped with sharp weapon took away cash from a grocery store at Särkilahti area in Kuopio, a municipality in North Savo region late Friday night, police said in a press release on Saturday afternoon.

The alleged robber stormed into the outlet of grocery shop chain K-Market at the area at about 7:00 pm and demanded money from the shopkeeper.

At certain stage he looted a small amount of money from the cashbox at knifepoint.

The alleged bandit left the scene by a bicycle immediately and eyewitness said that he went to the direction of Särkiniemi bridge.

Responding to an alarm, police rushed to the spot and conducted extensive search at the locality but failed to arrest the robber.

The police are requesting information from witnesses about the movement of the suspected robber.

Police said that the tall figure suspect was wearing red jacket, black cap and light colour trouser during the robbery.
