Student stabbed inside school at Liminka, suspect held

A student was injured when another student attacked him with knife at the compound of a junior high school at Liminka, a municipality in North Ostrobothnia region on Wednesday afternoon, said police in a press release.

The incident took place at about 1:00pm when the boy threatened other students of the school with a sharp knife.

At certain stage he stabbed a student, who sustained minor wounds in the attack. The other students and staff of the school rushed to the classrooms and locked the doors to take shelter during the incident.

Responding to an emergency alarm, several patrols of police rushed to the school but failed to arrest the attacker as he already left the spot.

The members of the law enforcing agency conducted extensive search at the area and arrested the suspect from a private apartment at about 3:30pm.

Police, however, did not divulge identities of the attacker and the wounded student.

The Police are investigating into the incident as attempted murder and illegal threats and finding out the reason behind it.
