Kivinen, Miglietta discuss progress of military coordination

The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General, Timo Kivinen hosted the visit of the Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, to Finland on Monday and Tuesday, said Finnish Defence Forces in a press release.
During the visit, the progress of military coordination of Finland’s NATO membership as well as the security of Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea region, was discussed.
Miglietta, said that unity is key in responding to changes in the security situation.
“The recent difficult geopolitical conditions have underscored the need for a united and vigilant Alliance, capable of deterring any threats to our shared security. Finland's expertise and resolute commitment to NATO's principles will play a crucial role in this endeavour,” said Miglietta.
During his visit, General Miglietta visited the Freezing Winds 23 international naval exercise in the Nyland Brigade.
More than 4,000 troops from several Allied countries and the Swedish Navy participate in the Finnish Navy-led exercise in the Gulf of Finland and the Archipelago Sea.
General Timo Kivinen, emphasized the importance of joint exercises for interoperability and regional stability.
“In addition to military preparedness, we have maintained extensive social crisis preparedness in Finland. Our NATO membership adds a new dimension to this. The coordination of our national defence plans with NATO's collective defence has progressed continuously,” he said.
“The unstable security situation requires determination and close cooperation with our allies. Based on the discussions during the visit and the activities I saw during the Freezing Winds exercise, we are well prepared to operate together,” Kivinen added.
