Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen has postponed her visit to Washington D.C., the United States, scheduled for Thursday, said the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release on Wednesday.

Valtonen was due to meet US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The visit to the United States has been postponed due to changes to the ministers’ schedules.

Diplomatic Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Laila Clyne told Daily Finland that the visit was postponed but the ministry was looking to find a new date that is mutually suitable for the ministers.

“I believe that Minister Blinken is currently tied up with another visit,” Clyne said.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to visit Israel to express support of its government, the US State Department said Tuesday.

Blinken is scheduled to land in Israel on Thursday.

Earlier on October 6, the Finnish Foreign Ministry announced that Valtonen will visit Washington DC on October 12.
