Man dead after freight train hits him in Mikkeli

One person was killed in a train accident at Pitkäjärvi in Mikkeli late Friday night, said police in a press release.

The accident took place at about 9:00 pm when a freight train knocked down him.

The man, who is in his 60s was killed on the spot in the accident. The deceased hailed from South Savo region.

Police, however, did not divulge detail about the accident.

The Accident Investigation Board and Police are investigating into the occurrence to find out the reason behind the accident.
