Prime Minister Sanna Marin will attend the informal summer meeting of Nordic prime ministers in Oslo on 15 August, said a government press release on Tuesday.

The main theme of the Nordic prime ministers’ meeting will be developing Nordic defence cooperation as Finland and Sweden join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), of which the other Nordic countries are already members.

Another important topic will be protecting the seas and promoting the use of renewable energy, including by deepening cooperation in the area of sustainable and climate-neutral energy solutions.

In connection with their meeting, the prime ministers will also have a joint meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz.

Marin will also hold bilateral discussions with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
