Man dies when police arresting him in Helsinki

A man died when police were arresting him from a residential area in Helsinki on Sunday morning, police said.

The incident took place at about 11:00 a.m. when a patient became aggressive towards ambulance workers at Kivikko area.

Responding to an alarm from the ambulance workers, a squad of police rushed to the spot and brought the patient under control.

When police were arresting him at certain stage the patient lost consciousness and later died despite resuscitation attempts, said police in a press release.

Police, however, did not divulge the identity of the deceased.

The Eastern Uusimaa Police will investigate into the death and the prosecutor office is set to release further information in this regard later.
