Health security measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic at Finland’s border crossing points are coming to an end from Friday.

Now passengers will no longer be required to present certificates of COVID-19 vaccinations or recovery or be tested for COVID-19 when entering the country, said the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

The end of health security measures related to the coronavirus applies to both Finland's internal and external border control.

The internal border refers to the border between Finland and the rest of the EU or Schengen countries and the external border refers to the border between Finland and non-EU or non-Schengen countries.

Health security measures at internal borders were based on the provisions of the Communicable Diseases Act that has been be repealed as of 30 June.

The provisions will not be further extended, as they are no longer relevant to the prevention of the spreading of the COVID-19 pandemic.
