Support for NATO membership on rise in Finland

Majority of the Finnish people expressed their support for applying to join the military alliance NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), according to a survey results published by national broadcaster Yle on Monday.
About 62 percent of respondents of the survey conducted on March 9-11 opined in favour of joining NATO while the ratio was 53 percent in the survey conducted on February 23-25.
The support in favour of joining to NATO reached to record high in the latest Yle survey following the Russia´s attack on Ukraine.
Before the attack, all the surveys during the last one decade showed that majority of the people opposed to join in NATO.
Only 21 percent of Finns supported to join in NATO in the survey conducted by Yle in 2017.
