Russian aircrafts will not be able to fly over Finland as the government is going to close the Finnish airspace to Russian air traffic following Russia´s attack on Ukraine.

“Finland is preparing to close airspace to Russian air traffic,” Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka wrote in his twitter in Finnish on Saturday evening.

The government, however, did not make any formal announcement about banning the airspace to Russian planes yet.

Finland's decision to ban Russian planes is a part of the common decision taken by the European Union responding to the Russia´s attack on Ukraine.

Earlier, the EU on Thursday reacted in a swift, strong and unified manner to the military action taken by Russian in Ukraine.

The European Council also agreed on further restrictive measures that will have massive and severe consequences for Russia.
