Demos in Finland protesting Russia´s attack on Ukraine

Thousands of people in Finland on Saturday brought out processions and held rallies at different parts of the country in protest against the Russian attack on Ukraine.

The people bearing Ukrainian flags, various banners and festoons expressed solidarity with the people of Ukraine and demanded immediate stop of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

In Helsinki, the first protest rally was held at Esplanadi Park in the city centre at the noon where the protesters chanted various slogans blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin for attacking Ukraine.

Two more protest rallies were also held at Mannerheim Square at about 1:00 pm in the capital.

Similar protest rallies were held in other major cities in the country where people from different strata took part and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, Ukraine Embassy to Helsinki thanked the Finnish people for their support to Ukraine.

“We thank everyone in #Finland for your heartfelt support. Together we will definitely win!,” the embassy wrote in its twitter post.

Russia on Thursday morning started military attacks on Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Finland on Saturday marked the 30 years of diplomatic relations between and Ukraine.

Finland reiterated its support to Ukraine´s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the occasion and wished courage and strength to the leaders and the people of Ukraine during this difficult time, according to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
